Most Connecticut Power Restored After High Wind Storms

Electric crews have restored power to most customers after high winds and heavy rain knocked out electricity across Connecticut. Eversource reported about 166 outages remained late Sunday, down sharply from earlier counts. The utility says crews worked nonstop, restoring service to more than 85 thousand customers and clearing hundreds of blocked roads.

Connecticut Minimum Wage Set To Rise Again

Connecticut’s minimum wage increases January 1, climbing from 16 dollars 35 cents to 16 dollars 94 cents an hour. The adjustment is required under a 2019 state law that ties wages to federal employment cost data. The hike gives Connecticut the second highest minimum wage in the country, behind Washington D.C.

Danbury Mayor Says Cancer Now Undetectable

Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves says test results show his cancer is now undetectable after five rounds of chemotherapy. The 42 year old Mayor was diagnosed with large B-cell lymphoma in September. Alves says one treatment remains at the end of this month, and he continues to work while monitoring his health.

Sauna Fire Put Out In Redding Without Injuries

Firefighters in Redding quickly knocked down a sauna fire Friday evening on Redding Road near John Reed Middle School. Crews arrived to find the sauna burning and put it out within minutes. No injuries were reported and no nearby buildings or vehicles were damaged.
