Immaculate High Celebrates Class of 2026

Immaculate High School in Danbury awarded diplomas to 101 graduates during commencement ceremonies Saturday. School officials say 99 members of the Class of 2026 are headed to four-year colleges, while one graduate will attend community college and another has enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Hord Foundation Co-Founder Noel Hord Dies at 76

Noel Hord, a longtime business leader and philanthropist who co-founded The Hord Foundation in Danbury, has died at age 76. Hord helped create the scholarship organization in 1993 and played a key role in supporting local students. Family members say he will be remembered for his leadership and commitment to giving back.

Connolly Wins Hometown Fairfield Half Marathon

Fairfield runner Megan Connolly captured the women’s title at the Athletic Brewing Company Fairfield Half Marathon on Sunday. Connolly became the first Fairfield woman to win the event, finishing in 1 hour, 18 minutes and 55 seconds. More than 4,000 runners participated in the weekend races, which also raised money for several charities.

ShopRite Sign Request Faces Danbury Scrutiny

Danbury zoning officials are questioning ShopRite’s request to install an electronic message sign at its new Newtown Road store. Board members cited concerns that a ShopRite sign at another location is not operating under previously approved conditions. The Zoning Board of Appeals is expected to continue discussions on the request at its meeting this Thursday.

Danbury Police Seek Person of Interest in Domestic Incident

Danbury police are searching for Alvaro Matias in connection with a domestic violence incident involving a firearm. Investigators say he was last seen near Clapboard Ridge Road and Stuart Drive. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Danbury Police or submit an anonymous tip.

ARC Program Graduates 90 New Teachers
