Trumbull Woman Charged With Embezzling From Dental Practice

Trumbull Woman Charged With Embezzling From Dental Practice29 year old Barbara Afroditi Economovich of Trumbull is charged with stealing nearly 78-thousand-500 dollars from the Fairfield dental practice where she worked. Police say the money was diverted into her personal accounts over several years. Economovich is scheduled to appear in court July 17.

ICE Makes First Courthouse Arrest Under New Connecticut Law

Federal immigration agents arrested an illegal alien at Danbury Superior Court, marking the first courthouse immigration arrest since Connecticut’s new restrictions took effect. State judicial officials say ICE presented a judicial warrant before the arrest, meeting the requirements of the new state law.

Newtown Residents Challenge Senior Housing Proposal

Danbury Man Charged With Threatening Business Owner

37 year old Waleston DaSilva-Sousa of Danbury is facing threatening and harassment charges after Westport Police say he threatened a business owner and her daughter following his wife’s firing from a cleaning company. Investigators also learned DaSilva-Sousa was the subject of an active administrative immigration warrant. He is due in court August 11.

More Than 5 Million Dollars Awarded for Weather Resilience

More than five million dollars in state grants are being awarded to help Connecticut communities prepare for extreme weather. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is providing 5-point-1 million dollars to 14 municipalities, regional organizations and nonprofits for projects aimed at reducing flood, heat and storm damage while strengthening local infrastructure.

Paddlecraft Rentals Coming to Squantz Pond

Connecticut is expanding outdoor recreation at Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield. The state is launching new canoe, kayak and stand-up paddleboard rental services as part of a program adding paddlecraft rentals at five Connecticut state parks.
