Connecticut home prices rose 6% over the 12 months ending in June, the second-largest increase in the nation. Fairfield County was even hotter, with prices up 7.5% from a year earlier. Nationally, home prices increased just 1.2% over the same period.

The Chiefs say the technology has become an important crime-solving tool. A new state law taking effect October 1 will limit data sharing and generally require records to be deleted after 21 days.

A septic truck rollover shut down part of Middlebury Road for more than five hours Tuesday. Police say the crash happened near Tranquility Road. The truck was carrying about 5,000 gallons of sewage, but none spilled. Hydraulic and motor oil did leak onto the ground, requiring a small soil cleanup. No waterways were affected.
