Downtown Danbury Revitalization Moves Forward
Downtown Danbury is seeing new investment, businesses and streetscape improvements. A new Ives Bank headquarters represents an investment of more than 20 million dollars. Upgraded sidewalks also are planned, while a dentist, veterinarian, boutique and café are among the businesses considering downtown locations.

Federal immigration officers arrested at least 50 people in Danbury this week as ICE stepped up enforcement across Connecticut. The agency continued carrying out federal immigration law despite objections from protesters and state and local officials. ICE has not said how long the operation will continue.

30 year old Aaron Freeze of Danbury faces a felony firearm charge following a traffic stop in Patterson. Putnam County deputies say they recovered a loaded handgun from the passenger-side floor of his uninsured vehicle. Freeze allegedly had no pistol permit and was released with an appearance ticket.

Connecticut’s migratory bird hunting seasons begin next week. The resident Canada goose season opens September 1 north of Interstate 95 and September 15 south of the highway. Early duck season opens statewide October 10. Migratory bird hunting remains prohibited Sundays, and hunters must obtain a state conservation stamp.
