Fire investigators say a small house fire on Candlewood Lake Road in New Milford began after residents tried to thaw a frozen pipe. Crews were called, and when they arrived they found smoke coming from inside the walls. Firefighters opened the wall, contained the blaze, and ventilated the home before it could spread. No injuries were reported and all those in the home escaped safely.
