A narrow stretch of Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield will be widened to improve safety. Town officials approved work on a roughly 100 foot section of road near the Candlewood Inn where lanes tighten along the lake’s edge. The project includes stabilizing the shoreline with heavy stone and bringing the roadway up to town standards. About 1,900 vehicles use the causeway each day. The town plans keep at least one lane open during construction.
