Brookfield has approved a plan to widen a narrow stretch of Candlewood Lake Road over the lake causeway. The roughly 100 foot section between the Candlewood Inn and Indian Trail will be expanded to match other town roads. Public works officials say the curve leaves little margin for error, with only guardrails separating traffic from the lake. The project includes stabilizing the shoreline with stone and is expected to be done during the winter lake drawdown. The town will next award a construction contract.
