CT Officials Approve UConn Purchase Of Waterbury Hospital

Connecticut health regulators have approved a $13 million deal allowing UConn Health to acquire Waterbury Hospital from bankrupt Prospect Medical Holdings, a move aimed at keeping the struggling facility open. The state says UConn was the only bidder and warned the hospital likely would have closed without the sale. UConn Health also plans to invest $250 million over five years, while committing to maintain all services for at least three years, including women’s health care.
