Report Connecticut Ranks Fourth Lowest For Grocery Spending

A new analysis shows Connecticut households spend an average of 575 dollars a month on groceries, ranking the state fourth lowest nationwide for grocery spending burden. Groceries account for 6.7 percent of total consumer spending, even as food prices jumped 0.7 percent in December, the biggest monthly increase in more than two years. Despite cooling overall inflation, rising grocery costs continue to squeeze family budgets across the state.
