Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is seeking private operators to bring canoe, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rentals to Squantz Pond State Park as part of a statewide expansion of paddlecraft services. Proposals are due February 27, with site visits scheduled next week and a public information webinar set for Thursday afternoon. State officials say the move follows strong demand from earlier pilot programs and is aimed at boosting outdoor access, tourism, and local business opportunities, with rentals targeted to be up and running for the 2026 recreation season.
