Danbury City Employee Granted Diversionary Program In Domestic Case

A 43 year old Danbury city employee accused in a domestic violence case has been approved for a two-year family violence education program that could lead to dismissed charges. Nelson Lopes entered the program in Danbury Superior Court, where he faces multiple charges including threatening and strangulation tied to an incident that took place last June. The judge set a potential dismissal date of Feb. 4, 2028, after prosecutors said Lopes is eligible for expanded counseling under the Explore Program.
