The Lamont administration is proposing a net increase of 135 new state jobs as employee benefit costs continue to climb. Fringe benefits are projected to total 3-point-6 billion dollars this fiscal year, driven largely by health care and pension expenses. The proposed budget also includes an 80-million-dollar increase in benefit funding.
