Connecticut Moves to Classify Kratom as Schedule 1 Drug

Connecticut lawmakers have unanimously approved regulations adding kratom and several other substances to the state’s Schedule 1 controlled drug list. The Legislative Regulation Review Committee signed off on the change Tuesday, making Connecticut the seventh state to take that step.
State officials say kratom has no approved medical use and has been widely sold without regulation, raising concerns about public safety, especially for children. The move directs agencies to begin enforcement and public education as the change takes effect.
