Newtown Considers Stop-Arm Cameras On School Buses

Newtown officials are considering installing stop-arm cameras on all 56 school buses to crack down on drivers who illegally pass stopped buses. The proposal would use BusPatrol technology equipped with cameras and artificial intelligence to capture violations. Officials say the program would come at no cost to the town and be funded through fines, which carry a minimum 250-dollar civil penalty under state law. The goal is to have the system in place by August.
