Aquarion Water Company is asking residents in more than a dozen Fairfield County towns to voluntarily conserve water as the region faces a moderate drought. The company says its Eastern Fairfield County system has dropped to 65 percent capacity after a rainfall deficit of more than 13 inches over the past year. Officials say recent snowfall offered little relief, noting it takes about 10 inches of snow to equal one inch of rain. Customers are urged to cut back on water use to help restore supply heading into spring and summer.
