New Fairfield officials are warning residents about scammers posing as local volunteer firefighters. Authorities say callers are claiming to represent the Squantz Engine Company and asking for donations, including credit card information. The New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department says it does not solicit donations by phone and will never request financial details that way. Residents are urged to hang up and contact police if they receive one of these calls.
