The Candlewood Lake Authority has removed all of the hazard, speed, and navigation buoys for the winter. If you plan to be out on the water, take all necessary precautions, including using a depth finder and a good map. Also, residents around Candlewood Lake are finding more zebra mussels on boats, buoys, anchors, and docks. Since their discovery in 2020, the population has been growing. While the annual winter drawdown can help control them, it is critical that boaters visiting Candlewood do not spread this invasive species to other nearby lakes that do not have them.
