Vehicle Registration Scofflaws Targeted

If you live in Connecticut but have your vehicle registered out of state, thinking you will save a few dollars, think again. Private agents are hunting for misregistered vehicles in Connecticut in so-called “motor vehicle compliance programs” that are aimed at trying to recoup revenue lost by people who register their vehicles elsewhere skirt local taxes. They are out there now, collecting license plate and geolocation data, which they then cross reference with personal information databases to verify ownership. Among the communities that are scanning license plates for such violations, is Danbury.
