Officials in Ridgefield are said to be considering a proposal that would restrict gas-powered leaf blowers. There will be a public hearing on December 13th, followed by a town meeting on January 3rd, to go over details of a plan that would limit the use of gas-powered leaf blowers to six-week spring and six-week fall cleanup seasons and in emergency situations such as hurricanes or high windstorm events. If enacted, the ordinance would be enforced by the Ridgefield Police Department, and it could lead to a $250 fine.
