Once again, the zoning commission in Danbury has nixed plans by a developer to convert the former Crowne Plaza Hotel into 198 studio apartments. The first refusal came last summer. Last week, the developer, Dan Bertram, came back with a revised plan, but that plan too was shot down. Danbury’s Zoning Commission voted 5-to-3 to deny Bertram permission to convert the hotel rooms into apartments. Among the reasons for the denial… allowing apartments in the Mill Plain Road commercial zone was seen as being inconsistent with the city’s recently passed master plan.
