Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Deputy Commissioner Mason Trumble announced on Monday, that $128,000 is being spent to fund free swimming lessons to qualifying children ages 17 and under at the Danbury Community Center pool. The program is expected to serve 300 children each year in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Club of New Britain. DEEP’s partnerships with Connecticut YMCAs and the Boys and Girls Club of New Britain have resulted in more than 2,000 children learning how to swim since lessons began in November 2022.
