An employee of a Bethel smoke shop has been fined for selling tobacco products to underage buyers. The employee’s name has not been publicly released, but they worked at Smokey Smoke Shop on Old Hawleyville Road in an investigation begun by Bethel Police who received complaints about underage people purchasing such products in town. 17 establishments in all were visited. Just one, Smokey Smoke Shop on Old Hawleyville Road — was found to be noncompliant with state laws.
