Lamont Offers Troops For Texas Border Defense

Governor Ned Lamont said Tuesday, that he is willing to send the Connecticut National Guard to the U.S. – Mexico border, but he also said that no request has yet been presented to him. Yesterday, during a national news broadcast, the governor said that immigration from Mexico is “hitting us” but he also said that here in Connecticut, few of those who arrive illegally come from the southern border. Lamont was on CNBC where he said we’ve got to secure the border. He also wrote a letter along with Vermont Governor Phil Scott that was published Sunday in Newsweek, in which both men spoke out in favor of a bipartisan plan to curb what the letter called “an unmanageable border crisis.”
