PRI Renewal Considered

State lawmakers are considering a bill to re-establish the Legislative Program Review and Investigations Committee, or PRI. This bipartisan committee, known for its in-depth investigations into public policy and programs, was eliminated in 2016 due to budget constraints. The bill is co-sponsored by House Republicans and has the backing of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association and the Northeastern Council of Governments. House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora says it’s time to reinstate the watchdog committee, which he believes is better equipped to analyze government programs.
