Magic Mushrooms May Soon Be Legal In Connecticut

Connecticut lawmakers have taken a significant step towards decriminalizing the possession of psilocybin mushrooms. The legislative Judiciary Committee approved a bill that would turn possession of small amounts of the so-called “magic” mushrooms from a misdemeanor to an infraction punishable by a $100 fine. While some lawmakers expressed concerns about the potential for recreational use, others emphasized the emerging research on the therapeutic benefits of psilocybin for conditions like PTSD and depression. If passed by the House and Senate and signed by the governor, the bill could mark a significant shift in drug policy in the state.
