Severe thunderstorms hit Connecticut Wednesday evening, causing power outages for thousands. Eversource reported nearly 1,900 outages, mostly in Westport, Greenwich, and in Danbury, while United Illuminating had around 973 outages in Fairfield and Stratford. The storms brought heavy rain, 60 mph winds, and lightning. A man in Colchester was struck by lightning and has been hospitalized. The storms did however, bring some relief from the heat wave that saw temperatures exceed 100 degrees.
