Firefighters in Brookfield quickly contained a basement fire on Black Swan Court on Sunday, limiting the damage to just the basement. The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company said crews were dispatched around 1 p.m. and found smoke coming from a window. Upon entry, they encountered heavy smoke and heat but located the fire near a dehumidifier with the help of thermal imaging. Thanks to the homeowners’ quick decision to shut the basement door, the fire did not spread. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury.
