Schaghticoke Middle School in New Milford was closed Tuesday following a threat involving the use of a weapon, according to school officials. Superintendent Janet Parlato said the threat specifically mentioned the school for September 17, but no other schools were named. As a precaution, extra police presence was requested at all New Milford schools. Local police are investigating the threat, while Mayor Pete Bass confirmed the detective bureau is also actively working on the case. Other schools in the district remained open.
