National Fire Prevention Week runs from October 6 to 12, and Public Education Coordinator Alan Zygmunt from the Connecticut Fire Academy is reminding families that working smoke alarms are the best defense against home fires. He says, “The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half with working smoke alarms.” Key tips: install alarms in every bedroom, on each level of your home, and outside sleeping areas. Test alarms monthly, and replace them every 10 years. For more fire safety resources, click HERE
