Danbury schools are reporting a rise in suspensions and expulsions, with teachers reporting daily incidents of noncompliance, verbal abuse, and even physical threats. The situation is said to be particularly concerning at the elementary level, where aggressive behavior is increasing. State data shows out-of-school suspensions reached 977 in the 2022-23 school year, up from 685 in 2018-19, while expulsions rose sharply as well.
