Danbury Woman Gets Reprieve From Prison Sentence

A Danbury woman charged in the 2021 overdose death of her 1-year-old grandson has been granted early release. 64 year old Cora Brandon was freed after serving less than half of her four-year sentence for manslaughter and child endangerment. Brandon was initially sentenced to 10 years, with four to be served, following her guilty plea. The sentence modification, approved by Judge Charles Stango, came after Brandon expressed remorse for the child’s death. Her grandson died from fentanyl exposure while in her care. Despite her early release, Brandon will still have to serve five years of probation.
