Connecticut Sending Aid To Flood Ravaged North Carolina

Connecticut’s urban search and rescue team has been deployed to North Carolina to assist in Hurricane Helene recovery efforts, after western North Carolina was devastated by historic flooding that completely wiped out some towns. The team includes eight state and local volunteers trained in search and swift water rescue. They left Friday evening and will stay for seven days. This follows the Friday morning deployment of a National Guard unit, including a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, also heading to North Carolina. Both teams were sent under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, allowing states to share emergency resources.
