Brookfield Marks Temporary Moratorium On Multi-Family Apps

The Brookfield Zoning Commission has announced a temporary moratorium on new multifamily housing applications, effective October 12. The decision, which extends through December 1, 2026, was made in response to significant growth in the area, with 385 new units built since 2016 and more under construction. The moratorium allows the town to evaluate its current Plan of Conservation and Development and focus on non-residential projects that could generate jobs.
