Sherman Voters Approve School Renovation Project

Sherman voters have overwhelmingly approved a $43 million renovation project for the town’s only school. The proposal passed by a vote of 961 to 505 in a referendum held on Saturday. The plan will modernize the 87-year-old Sherman School, addressing issues like plumbing, electrical, and structural problems. Construction is set to begin next summer and will take up to two years. The project will be financed by bonds, with taxpayers covering $30.53 million of the cost, and the state reimbursing 30 percent. The school’s size will also be reduced to better meet future enrollment needs.
