150th Ives Birthday Celebration Begins This Week

Danbury is set to celebrate the 150th birthday of composer Charles Edward Ives with a series of events beginning this Wednesday and running through Sunday. The celebration, organized by the Danbury Museum & Historical Society and the Danbury Music Centre, will honor Ives, born in Danbury in 1874, who is often referred to as the “Father of Modern American Music.” Events will include musical performances, tours of the Charles Ives Birthplace Museum, and programs at Wooster Cemetery, where Ives is buried.
