Voting Rules To Obey

As Election Day approaches, Connecticut voters should prepare for some important rules to ensure a smooth voting experience. Starting with attire, state law prohibits wearing any clothing that promotes a candidate or political party. Voters will use paper ballots this year, which must be fed into an optical scanner to be counted. Polling places open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters in line by closing time are allowed to cast their ballots. And while campaigning is restricted within a 75-foot radius of polling places, baked goods from local groups can be sold nearby, providing a sweet treat for those waiting to vote.
