August Rainfall Did Not Break Records

We are now learning that Connecticut did not set a new rainfall record during the severe storm in August that resulted in three fatalities. The National Weather Service now says that while some parts of the state reported over 10 inches of rain, measurements in other areas now suggest record levels were deemed inaccurate due to the positioning of private weather stations. The official state record of 12.77 inches, set during Hurricane Diane in 1955, remains intact.
