Invasive Species Grant Applications Now Being Accepted

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is now accepting applications for its 2025 Aquatic Invasive Species Grant Program. Proposals are due by December 6. Established in 2019, the program funds projects aimed at controlling invasive species like hydrilla and zebra mussels, which harm freshwater ecosystems and outdoor recreation. So far, $1.5 million has been awarded to 59 projects statewide. Boaters are reminded to inspect and clean their vessels to prevent the spread of invasive species, or risk fines of up to $100.
