A $2 Million project in Ridgefield aims to make the Branchville part of town a more pedestrian friendly community. The plan involves building a sidewalk and a re-designed Route 7 and 102 intersection. Work is now set to begin in a few months. There will be a walking bridge over a brook, and the sidewalk will continue north across the street and all the way up Florida Road. It also includes news decorative lighting. A grant to help pay for it was obtained through the Transit Alternative Program. The town had to match 20 percent… or about $400,000… and that had already been approved by voters in Ridgefield. Plans now call for the work to begin this year and continue over the next three to four years until it wraps up.
