Former CT Girls Coach Claims He Never Knew Of Law Against Coach-Athlete Relationships

A former Connecticut girls’ basketball coach has been sentenced to four years in prison for second-degree sexual assault. 34 year old Danny Lawhorn was convicted in September for a 2021 incident involving a player under 18. Along with prison time, Lawhorn must register as a sex offender and could face up to six additional years behind bars if he violates the terms of his probation. Lawhorn claims he didn’t know about the law banning coach-athlete relationships and he plans to appeal.
