Newtown Man Facing Charges

A Newtown man faces charges after police say he fled a state trooper’s traffic stop in Waterbury back in August. Police say 34 year old Todd Pleasants sped off after being pulled over on Route 8 for erratic driving, and then providing an ID that didn’t resemble him. The trooper decided at the time not to initiate a pursuit, but minutes later, Pleasants crashed his car and then ran off. Investigators later connected Pleasants to the incident, and now he’s facing charges including reckless driving, resisting arrest, and criminal impersonation. He is now being held on a $25,000 bond.
