A brush fire near the Centennial Watershed State Forest in Redding closed Newtown Turnpike on Saturday evening. All three Redding fire companies and other nearby departments were called in to battle the flames. This is the latest fire in that area, coming just a week after a 2.5-acre fire in the same area, with officials warning of continued risks due to dry, windy conditions and low humidity.
