A Connecticut man has been found guilty of defrauding the University of Connecticut out of $62,000. Prosecutors say Dickson Alorwornu of Greenwich… also known as Dixon Al… used stolen social security numbers and credit accounts to apply to UConn under fake identities in 2017. He later withdrew the applications and secured full refunds, funneling the money into his own bank accounts. Authorities say Alorwornu also attempted scams at several other universities, including Central Connecticut State and Missouri State. Following a long investigation, he was taken into custody last year. Sentencing is now set for February 19th.
