A Danbury man accused of sexually assaulting a child will face trial after rejecting a plea deal. 31 year old Fernando Dota-Dota appeared in court Monday, declining an offer of 10 years in prison followed by 25 years of probation. Dota-Dota is facing felony charges including first-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact related to incidents that investigators say took place between 2018 and 2019, when the victim was 8 or 9 years old. Dota-Dota has been held on a $350,000 bond since his arrest back in November 2023. If convicted, he faces up to 90 years in prison.
