A Newtown woman who was involved in a 2023 shooting and standoff has been denied entry into a diversionary program. 33 year old Meghan Gouveia faces a long list of charges, including first-degree assault, stemming from the incident at her Boggs Hill Road home. Two children were present at the time, but they were not hurt. Her attorney cited her progress in treatment, but the court ruled her ineligible due to the severity of the charges. Gouveia’s case therefore, returns to court next month.
