The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is inviting residents to kick off the New Year with a First Day Hike on January 1st. Guided and self-guided hikes will take place at 16 state parks and forests, offering options for families and avid hikers alike. Parking is free for Connecticut-registered vehicles through the Passport to the Parks program. DEEP refers to it as a great way to enjoy nature and start the year with fresh air and beautiful trails.
