Freezing temperatures and high winds caused power outages across most of Connecticut Tuesday, with more than 2,800 customers initially affected. Eversource reported the majority of outages. By late evening, outages dropped to about 560 statewide. Fallen tree limbs were the primary cause, according to the utility. Wind gusts reached up to 50 mph in some areas, prompting a wind advisory for Litchfield County. Slippery roads due to frozen moisture from Monday’s snow caused a lot of fender benders.
