Eversource Energy is selling Aquarion Water Company in a $2.4 billion deal. The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority is acquiring the company in a deal calling for it to pay $1.6 billion in cash and assume $800 million in debt. Eversource says the sale will help focus on its electric and gas businesses. The deal still must be approved by regulators, and if it is, it’s expected to close before the end of the year.
