Danbury Mayor Accused Of Becoming Part-Timer

Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves is facing criticism after being elected chair of the Connecticut Democratic Party. The Danbury GOP claims the role makes Alves a “part-time mayor,” arguing it conflicts with the city charter, which requires the mayor to devote full time to the office. Alves meanwhile, defended his commitment, calling the concerns political. Alves has already informally announced his reelection bid, while Republicans have yet to name a challenger.
